x.ai, the Elon Musk helmed AI company, released their chatbot response to OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Their bot is called GROK and is “modeled after the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.”
Grok is designed to answer questions with a bit of wit and has a rebellious streak, so please don’t use it if you hate humor!

According to the release, Grok is trained on data from X (formerly Twitter). This just seems like a terrible idea. With the character limitation of Twitter, it’s not ‘normal’ human speech. Training on that feels like training on old telegrams – short stilted speech. Best of luck to them. Only time will tell.
