Cognition Labs, based in New York and San Francisco, announced the development of Devin their fully autonomous AI software developer.

The interesting part of the release is that Devin can accomplish “long-term reasoning and planning.” Since computer software languages are based on human languages, and LLMs have fairly mastered language, it makes some sense that LLMs can generate effective software code. The question in regarding long-term planning and how LLMs can accomplish that effectively.
